summary: Phil works at a coffee shop, Starbucks to be exact, and a certain customer comes in everyday.
disclaimer: not true!
Phil walked into the local Starbucks and immediately ran to the counter, "How late am I?" His manager and somehow also his best friend PJ looked down at his watch with a bored expression, "Only five minutes. Go put on your uniform"
"Shit, yeah" Phil was late. A lot. But in his mind it was always for good reason- he had to stay up to watch the latest episode of Dexter, he had university papers that needed finishing, or his excuse today was he got distracted wondering why the same boy would enter the coffee shop everyday at 11AM and leave everyday at 12PM.
Once Phil had tossed on his brown apron he stared out into the small sea of assorted tables and sure enough the boy was there again. He had brown hair styled to form a spiky side bang across his forehead and soft brown eyes that would sometimes sparkle when the boy read something exciting in the newspaper. Phil knew what kind of music the boy liked too, he could overhear it sometimes from small white headphones when he walked past. Phil was hopelessly curious about the boy and some nights it tore him apart.
Like the previous night. He was just laying in bed when suddenly it occurred to him that the boy could be a spy or maybe a food inspector. Maybe the boy was planning to attack the coffee shop and was mapping out the place! That's the way Phil described the whole situation to PJ who kept the same unamused expression.
"You're late because you have a crush on a guy"
"Yes! Wait, no!" Phil tried to defend himself but PJ snickered and walked away from the counter just as the boy stood up.
Phil's heart beat sped up as he realized the boy was getting ready to order, he was going to have to talk to the guy's face and then make him coffee!
"Uh, hi!" the boy smiled and two dimples were revealed in his cheeks.
"Hi! What would you like?"
"Can I have a, um, small caramel macchiato?" the boy blushed slightly and took some loose change from his jean pocket.
"Sure! One sec," Phil turned around to his coffee maker and took a cup from the side. He held the cup beneath the button which read "vanilla latte" and pressed down before adding foam with caramel drizzle on the top. Phil put a brown plastic cover on the drink and passed it to the boy who grinned.
"What is it?" Phil cocked his head to the side.
"You have, uh," the boy giggled, "foam on your face" Phil blinked before replying, "What?" and the boy dipped one of his lean fingers into his drink and poked Phil's nose. "I'm Dan"
"I can read"
"Hmmph?" Phil looked down at his name tag and nodded, "That's right"
"No, i'm just a mind reader" Dan smirked.
"Really!" Dan took a noisy sip of his drink.
"Prove it, what am I thinking of?" Phil laughed, using his hand to wipe off the foam and rub it into his pants.
"You want to kiss me"
"Hu-" and before Phil could think of a witty response Dan had stood up tall, leaned in, and taken Phil's lips by surprise.
As Dan leaned back he chuckled, "Thoughts?"
"You taste nice. Like caramel,"
"Hmm," Dan beamed, "I wonder why! And I have to go, don't miss me too much"
"I'll try my best" Phil winked as Dan let out another chuckle, "Bye!"
Once Dan had exited the shop, PJ came suddenly with something that could be described as a slightly bored look to anyone else but for PJ he looked the happiest he'd been in a month. "Did you give him your number?"
"Tomorrow I will," Phil sighed dreamily
"I saw everything but what were you guys talking about?" PJ raised one eyebrow.
"I don't even know.. but he's coming back tomorrow"
"Obviously, did you even have to ask?"
